May 1, 2010 - Jen Laws

The New Mexico Court of Appeals has scheduled a 10 a.m. hearing at the Pamela B. Minzner Law Center on May 17. The oral argument is open to the public.

A three-judge panel will preside: Judge James J. Wechsler, Judge Jonathan B. Sutin (`63) and Judge Michael Vigil.

Following are the details of the case:
National Union of Hospital And Healthcare Employees, District #1199, New Mexico, AFL-CIO, CLC, plaintiff-appellant, represented by Shane C. Youtz
vs.
The Board of Regents of the University of New Mexico, contracting with plaintiff as University Hospital, defendant-appellee, represented by Thomas L. Stahl

The plaintiff-appellant challenges the trial court’s vacating of an arbitration award, from the defendant-appellee to the plaintiff-appellant, on the grounds that the court lacked the basis to do so under the Public Employee Bargaining Act and the Uniform Arbitration Act.
